The importance of environmentally friendly packaging
The plastic we do use is PET plastic. These can all be recycled, and 70% of recycled plastic is used to manufacture the bottles. They are lightweight, cost-effective to produce and require less energy to transport.
Our blue glass jars are blue glass, NOT clear glass sprayed blue. This eliminates the use of chemical-laden blue paint. The glass can be recycled.
We try to source our bottles and jars from UK manufacturers to avoid extensive miles in transport.
Our environmentally-friendly ethos extends to our production facility in Dorset.
What do we do?
- We keep rubbish that needs to go to landfill to an absolute minimum.
- We use suppliers that have the same eco friendly mindset as us.
- We separate glass, plastic and cardboard that we use and take it to our local recycling centre.
- Our mailing boxes are made from 75% recycled cardboard, are biodegradable and easy to recycle.
- We are changing the blue plastic tape and sellotape that is used to secure your orders. We will be using biodegradable paper tape that can be composted or recycled. It is plastic-free, vegan, made with a natural rubber based adhesive and is sourced from the UK.
- The tissue paper that we use to wrap your products is recycled and acid-free.
- You might have wondered what the white squidgy things are that protect your Oleo goodies in your orders. It is a natural packaging material which is 100% biodegradable and fully compostable, and manufactured from annually renewable resources. It is light, clean and odour free. They are made from 100% genetically modified free starch.
